Story

East Point Breeze Neighbors (EPBN) is a non-profit civic organization established in 2007 serving residents, owners, and businesses in the Point Breeze area of South Philadelphia west of Broad St. to 18th St. and south of Washington Ave. to Passyunk Ave. EPBN strives to engage residents, support sustainable development, promote local businesses, and strengthen our community through clean streets, greening efforts, public safety, planning, zoning, and outreach.
Here is some additional information about our committees.
Cleaning & Greening
The Clean and Green Committee is focused on keeping our neighborhood clean and green by connecting residents to resources for block cleanups, planting trees, and caring for Manton Green located at the corner of 17th and Manton Streets. If you're a block captain or just someone interested in helping out, get in touch to find out how we can work together and how we can help you. We have also focused on our partnerships with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), Neighborhood Gardens Trust, and other neighborhood groups to expand the amount of green space in our community.
Public Safety
The Public Safety Committee helps serve as a liaison between the neighbors in the EPBN service area, the police, other neighborhood groups and city agencies with a focus on safety and quality of life. The geographic boundaries of East Point Breeze Neighbors involves two separate Philadelphia Police Districts: the 17th District, which covers the area west of Broad between Lombard Street and Moore Street, and the 1st District, which covers the area west of Broad Street and south of Moore Street in South Philadelphia.
Community Outreach
The Community Outreach Committee updates content on the website, organizes business outreach, and collects block captain information. The committee also coordinates with other civic associations, community groups and institutions. We look to find ways to connect the community to the various committees and events within East Point Breeze Neighbors.
Planning & Zoning
East Point Breeze Neighbors' Planning & Zoning Committee facilitates monthly public zoning meetings in which applicants seeking zoning variances are able to present their plans, gather valuable public feedback, and gauge community support for their project before going in front of the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA).
