For the past eight years, since 2018, Your Money Matters Mentoring (YMMM) has reached thousands of young people across Pierce County, South King County, and beyond educating, mentoring, and equipping them to make wise money decisions and build brighter futures. Too many young people step into adulthood without the skills or confidence to manage money, build credit, or plan ahead. The result is debt, instability, and generational poverty.

Picture a place where a young person opens their first bank account, a young parent builds credit and stability for their family, and a student earns their first paycheck and actually knows what to do with it. That’s our new Financial Wellness Center (FWC): a safe, trusted space where financial learning becomes life-changing, and where young people can access trauma-informed support and get their basic needs met so they’re actually ready to learn, grow, and lead.

This is not another financial literacy workshop. The FWC is different. It’s a long-term, high-impact pathway to economic independence built to support the whole young person, with hands-on financial education, one-on-one mentorship, paid work experiences, and career exploration that connect learning to real opportunity right when it matters most.
