From August 1 through October 31, 2026, and during Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re raising funds to complete a new documentary following the beloved East LA band Las Cafeteras who are artists, organizers, and cultural workers using music to imagine a more just future.

This film is more than a music documentary. It’s a portrait of immigrant families, political organizing, joy as resistance, and the power of art to bring people together across generations.

For the past several years, Sotomayor Productions has been documenting Las Cafeteras on and off stage, capturing intimate moments of family life, touring, community organizing, and the emotional labor behind sustaining activist art in America.

Now we need your help to finish the film and bring it to audiences nationwide.
