The Move Forward 5K/10K is an event created by the Doctor of Physical Therapy students at Regis University as a community outreach project. Proceeds from the event benefit Canine Companions for Independence and the Foundation for Physical Therapy.

Race Details and Mission
Experienced runners, casual runners and walkers, well-behaved on-leash dogs, and families are all welcome to participate in this event. The race will be held on Saturday September 21, 2024. Along with raising funds for the Foundation for Physical Therapy and Canine Companions for Independence, the Move Forward 5K/10K has a number of other goals. These goals include facilitating and encouraging physical activity within the community, as well as raising awareness regarding the role of PT in health promotion and wellness. Through the efforts of Doctor of Physical Therapy students and their sponsors, we can make this event a race for the Denver community while raising funds to support critical research for rehabilitation and providing service dogs to individuals with disabilities.

Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships. Dogs are provided free of charge to those in need. The Regis DPT program has participated in the training of 6 of these puppies. https://canine.org/

Foundation for Physical Therapy is a group provides funding for new evidence in the role of physical therapy in stroke recovery, injuries, accidents, cerebral palsy mobility in children, and pain management for patients with low back pain. The mission of the Foundation for Physical Therapy is to fund and publicize physical therapy research that determines the scientific basis and values of services intended to optimize physical functioning by physical therapists, and to develop the next generation of researchers.

Don't forget to register to run the race! If you are planning on registering the day of, we recommend arriving 30 minutes to 1 hour prior to race start time. Race Day registration will begin at 7:30 AM on Saturday September 21, 2024 at the Registration Table in front of the Student Center in the quad. Click here to register!

TEAM DISCOUNT For Race Registration
Teams of at least 5 members will receive a 10% discount at the time of registration. Teams of at least 10 members will receive a 15% discount. Discount is not applied to virtual runners.

Fundraise as a Team through GiveButter! Get a team together and compete to see who can raise the most! The team that fundraises the greatest amount by the start of the race will win a brewery party which includes beer and snacks for up to 6 people donated by Goldspot Brewing. You don't have to be a runner to be a part of this challenge, so let the race begin!
