Dr. Alan Lightman is a physicist, author, and humanist whose work explores the intersection of science, meaning, and the human spirit. He is best known for Einstein’s Dreams and Searching for Stars on an Island in Maine, which reflect his unique ability to bridge scientific inquiry with questions of purpose, wonder, and our emotional connection to the universe.

Lightman writes with deep reverence for both reason and reflection, inviting readers to consider not just how the world works, but what it means to be alive within it. As founder of the Harpswell Foundation, he also advances education and leadership for women in Southeast Asia, embodying his commitment to equity, empathy, and the pursuit of a more thoughtful world.
