At Hummingbird Indigenous Family Services (HIFS), we believe in a sacred truth: when Indigenous mothers are nurtured and supported, their babies are born into their love, their families grow strong, and their communities thrive.

Our mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure healthy Indigenous babies are born into healthy Indigenous families, supported by healthy Indigenous communities. Every day, we walk alongside Indigenous families through fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting with deep care, cultural connection, and community-rooted support.

"Nestled in Love" is more than a theme — it’s a reflection of how we show up for our relatives. It honors the gentle, intentional, and powerful ways we care for our relatives. It represents the softness of a cradleboard, the strength of aunties and uncles, the resilience of parents, and the heartbeat of the community that surrounds every child.

🌺 What is the “Medicine of the Hummingbird”?

The hummingbird teaches us about the medicine of joy, vitality, and fierce tenderness. In our work, this medicine lives in every baby born, every parent seen and supported, and every system we work to change.

At the gala, we will center the voices and experiences of our relatives — the families we serve — through a powerful Indigenous fashion show where they will walk the runway in designs created by Indigenous artists. These aren’t just models. They are storytellers, parents, protectors, survivors, and future-builders.

Through their presence and their stories, we will share the impact of our work — the real medicine of the hummingbird.
