At Overflow Cafe, we believe the love of Jesus shines brightest when we care for those in need—and that’s exactly what Operation Christmas Stocking is all about. Each holiday season, while schools close for winter break, we step in to bless families in our community with the essentials—and a little Christmas joy—when they need it most.

Partnering with school social workers, we identify local families who could use a helping hand. We provide groceries for breakfast and lunch, personal care items, and thoughtful touches that bring warmth and joy to their homes during the holidays. From cereal and snacks to much-needed undergarments and hygiene products, we aim to meet both practical and heartfelt needs with dignity and love.

The need is real: According to the National Center for Education Statistics, more than 25% of students in our area receive SNAP benefits—outpacing both state and national averages. In 2022, we served 10 adults and 22 children across five schools. By God's grace, that number grew to 14 families in 2023, and in 2024, we were blessed to serve 34 children with Christmas gifts and food—and another 50 with food support alone.

Each family fills out a personalized form to share their favorite foods, allergies, and preferences—because we believe that meeting needs means truly knowing people. And for many, something as simple as the right-sized pair of socks or underwear can be a true gift of comfort and care.

Through Operation Christmas Stocking, we’re not just delivering food—we’re delivering hope, joy, and a reminder that Jesus sees and loves each family we serve.
