What is Pathway Home?

Each year, Cathedral Center celebrates all women and families who come to us seeking housing stability by honoring two individuals: one of our former guests and one woman in the community who supports our mission and whose actions match her words. Pathway Home – a Celebration of Ending Homelessness is our signature fundraising event. We know that ending homelessness is a mission we must pursue each day, and we are grateful that you have joined us on this journey. We are excited to celebrate in person this year on Wednesday, July 30th.

Joann Steidinger | 2025 Woman of the Word Honoree

We are thrilled to honor Joann Steidinger as Cathedral Center’s 2025 Woman of the Word. Joann is a true servant leader whose extraordinary generosity and unwavering commitment to others make a lasting impact on our community. From leading mission initiatives at Crossroads church and supporting Afghan refugee families, to organizing hurricane relief efforts and volunteering and working at local shelters like Cathedral Center, Joann exemplifies the power of mission-driven action.

Her hands-on care and tireless advocacy inspire others to join her in making a difference. Joann’s selflessness and leadership shine through in every endeavor, and we are proud to celebrate a woman who embodies the very spirit of love, compassion, and service.

Meet Our Co-Chairs:

Pathway Home 2025 is co-chaired by Cathedral Center board members Tony Tagliavia and Kim Preston, two respected Milwaukee-area leaders with a strong commitment to community service. Tony is the Chief Marketing Officer at Milwaukee Area Technical College and Board Secretary for Cathedral Center. Kim, a longtime financial services leader at First Business Bank, actively serves with several community and nonprofit organizations across the region.

About The Cathedral Center:

The Cathedral Center's mission is to provide a safe environment for women and families while working to end homelessness, one life at a time. The Cathedral Center operates across three nearby locations, offering a safe haven for vulnerable individuals to heal and stabilize. It originated from a collaborative effort in the mid-1990s to address the lack of emergency shelter beds for women and families with children, starting as an overflow shelter in local churches before incorporating as a nonprofit in 2002. CCI has expanded our services to include critically needed prevention support, assist individuals in avoiding literal homelessness, and added an employment program and support for children and youth. Our Flexible Housing model, developed in partnership with Friendship House, provides emergency housing for longer durations and tailors support to individuals' needs, aiming to facilitate independent living. Currently, Cathedral Center accommodates up to 16 families and 32 women each night across its locations, actively assisting over 25 women and 40-50 families in our Community Case Management program.
