This 8'x8' acrylic mural painting is inspired by the MVFAF poster artist, Samantha Ferro's "Map of Mill Valley". Her award-winning colorful design was the visual theme for the 2025 Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival. Community artist, Robert Louthan created the opportunity for visitors at the festival to personalize and contribute artistically to his line drawing from Samantha's Map design.

"It was like a giant coloring book with no rules!" Anyone could walk up, grab a palette of colors, a brush, then express themselves on the streets and blocks of Robert's Mill Valley Map.

The metaphor was not lost. "We Are Here", is a painting done by many of the people who live in that painting. It is an alive continuation of Samantha Ferro's tribute to her home town. And it reflects the spirit of the arts at the Mill Valley Fall Festival.

This mural is painted with acrylic paints, and some mixed media. The substrate is Tyvek, (a synthetic fiber-paper like cloth which is very durable) so it is lightweight and can be easily rolled up for transport. It should be mounted on a lightweight board which Robert will arrange to do for the lucky owner of this piece of the pride of Mill Valley. Robert will arrange to deliver it, or it can be pick up in his Corte Madera studio.

The proceeds of this auctioned artwork will go directly into funding the next Community Art Project for the 2026 Mill Valley Fall Arts Festival.
