Like the hummingbird who returns each season to gather nectar and carry new life across the land, Hummingbird Indigenous Family Services exists to make sure abundance reaches every Indigenous family — starting with the very first heartbeat. This Season of Abundance, we are planting two seeds for our community’s future: The Nest, whose $1,250 monthly gift keeps Indigenous mothers rooted in dignity and stability through pregnancy and their child’s first three years, and the first-ever Indigenous birth center in the United States, a home where Indigenous babies can enter the world surrounded by ceremony, family, and care that honors exactly who they are.

Abundance is not an accident. It is what happens when a community chooses to care for its own. But without your support, The Nest is at risk of closing — and with it, the promise we’ve made to 150 families that they would never have to choose between dignity and survival. Your gift tonight doesn’t just fund a program. It keeps The Nest built, keeps the medicine flowing, and carries the next generation of our Relatives into the world exactly as they deserve: enough, honored, and never alone.

🌺 What is the “Medicine of the Hummingbird”?

The hummingbird teaches us about the medicine of joy, vitality, and fierce tenderness. Like the hummingbird who returns each season to gather nectar and carry new life across the land, that medicine lives in every baby born, every parent seen and supported, and every system we work to change.

This Season of Abundance, that medicine takes shape in two ways: in The Nest, whose monthly gift keeps Indigenous mothers rooted in dignity through pregnancy and their child's first three years, and in the first-ever Native birth center in the United States, a home where Indigenous babies can enter the world surrounded by ceremony, family, and care that honors exactly who they are.

That medicine isn't abstract — it shows up in real people, real stories, real courage. At the gala, we will center the voices and experiences of our Relatives, the families we serve. You'll hear directly from them, and experience a moment of entertainment we're keeping as a surprise for the evening. They are storytellers, parents, protectors, survivors, and future-builders.

Through their presence and their stories, we will share the impact of our work. This is the real medicine of the hummingbird — joy, vitality, and fierce tenderness, carried forward by the very people it was made for.
