Thank you to everyone who attended Wednesday's rally, where we learned the harrowing news that Esdrás has been moved to Louisiana, the same state featured in this morning’s NYT article about this administration’s “busiest deportation hub.” To say we are in a battle is an understatement; our government is waging a war on our humanity and we, the people, will not lose.

Thank you to everyone who has donated already. You may see that @ct4adream reached its initial fundraising target of $10,000, but we know they are going to need more, and that they need us to support them so that they can do what they need to do for the students we love and share. When horrible things happen, there is so much power in gathering together.

Possible Futures and Crafters of Color have partnered in the past for other issues we care deeply about. Sometimes on Fridays, the bookspace hosts inpromptu happy hours among friends, and this week we’re expanding that neighborly vision and inviting you all over on Friday, August between 4 and 8 PM. We’ll be offering drinks and snacks in exchange for donations, plus raffle tickets, and materials and examples for writing letters.

We will also be kicking off this online auction, which will run for special donated items between Friday, August 1 and Friday, August 8. We are grateful to all who responded with donations to make this auction, and Friday's raffle possible.

Founded in 2022 by a group of New Haven-based Black, Asian, Latinx, and mixed race handcraft artisans, New Haven Crafters of Color Collective hosts free pop-up markets throughout the year for local craftspeople and artists of color in the city.

We don't charge vendor fees because we know how big a barrier that can be to marginalized artists like us. Instead, we spend our time securing venues, creating and distributing fliers, posting on social media, and (re-)setting the spaces we use. All accepted vendors are expected to contribute similarly.

Possible Futures provides a curated collection of books, artwork, events, and goodies that feed the mind, nourish the body, and sustain the soul. We prioritize shelf space primarily for authors and topics that have been historically underrepresented in publishing and on public shelves.

Possible Futures is a space for all knowledge-seekers and freedom dreamers. That said, we offer special supports, services, and programming for teachers, schools, and public education initiatives.

Possible Futures is a place where we, the people, come together to understand and learn from the past, thrive and grow in the present, and imagine and build a better, more sustainable, and socially just world.
