From June till the end of October, we’re dedicating these 5 months to International Yoga For Peace, an initiative by AZAHAR Foundation to unite yoga teachers and students around the world in support of life-changing programs for communities affected by conflict, trauma, and displacement.

Where Your Support Goes

Peace Program

AZAHAR Foundation’s Peace Program is a trauma-informed, three-tiered model that transforms yoga and mindfulness into tools for individual healing, vocational empowerment, and community peacebuilding. Operating in post-conflict and marginalized settings, the program supports underserved populations, especially women and youth, in developing personal resilience and sustainable livelihoods.

Healing and Empowerment Through Yoga in Rwanda

AZAHAR Foundation’s Rwanda programs provide trauma-informed yoga, meditation, and mindfulness to communities deeply affected by conflict, poverty, and systemic exclusion. At the heart of this work is our free community hub in Kigali, which offers a safe, inclusive space for individuals to heal, self-regulate, and reconnect.

Center for Peace, Yoga & Arts

This center is the heart of our Cambodia programs, a dedicated, trauma-informed space where trained teachers deliver yoga, meditation, and healing workshops for communities affected by conflict, poverty, and systemic exclusion. It ensures our vocational training leads to real careers and income, not just certification. For many, it is the only safe space where healing is possible and dignity is restored.

Indego x AZAHAR Community Wellness Facilitators Training

ToT Project is a joint initiative aimed at equipping 25 young members of Indego Africa’s cooperatives in Rwanda to become Community Wellness Facilitators. Through this program, participants are trained to lead trauma-informed movement, breathwork, and mindfulness-based sessions that support emotional healing and community resilience.

Resident Teacher Training

Each year, AZAHAR sponsors a local yoga teacher to attend the 300-hour Jivamukti™ Yoga Teacher Training in India—an intensive, world-class program. This scholarship invests in local leadership and strengthens our model of community-rooted wellness by enabling advanced expertise to be reinvested back home.

Supporting Ukrainian Yoga Teachers

In partnership with Bright Seeds and Fundación Rādika, AZAHAR co-organized a trauma-sensitive yoga retreat in Corfu for 16 Ukrainian teachers. The retreat provided tools for healing and resilience to support communities affected by war. With over $45,000 raised and the program continuing this year, your participation in the YOGATHON helps sustain this vital work and extend solidarity across borders.
