In celebration of Earth Day, Coast Film Foundation is hosting a free screening of The Last Ranger on April 26th, followed by an educational Q&A with Actor/Co-Writer/Executive Producer, David S. Lee, and Operations Director of the Zululand Rhino Orphanage, Karen Odendaal. The event underscores the urgent need for animal conservation and the power of community in protecting endangered species. We’ll also be hosting a silent auction to raise critical funds for the Zululand Rhino Orphanage. Auction highlights include a 7-night stay at a five-star Big Five safari lodge, limited-edition prints of rescued rhino orphans, signed surfboard from Kelly Slater, gift cards, and other exclusive experiences and items—all in support of wildlife conservation.

Zululand Rhino Orphanage, the only dedicated rhino orphanage in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, provides 24-hour care and rehabilitation for rhino calves orphaned by poaching, with the goal of reintroducing them into the wild. Founded in response to a poaching crisis, the orphanage is a vital part of regional conservation efforts and a powerful example of how care, security, and local collaboration can give these animals a second chance.

This event reflects the core mission of the Coast Film Foundation, which was established in 2022 to deepen the impact of the Coast Film & Music Festival. The foundation aims to bring together outdoor and ocean-minded communities through storytelling and film, offering a platform for filmmakers, athletes, artists, and change-makers to spark dialogue and inspire action. By spotlighting powerful conservation stories like The Last Ranger and facilitating live conversations with those on the front lines, Coast Film Foundation fosters meaningful engagement that extends beyond the screen.
