The Great South Bay deserves a dedicated watchdog on the water.

Save The Great South Bay is raising funds to purchase and outfit a vessel for Andy Mirchel, our Long Island South Shore Waterkeeper®, giving him the ability to patrol the Great South Bay and surrounding South Shore waterways, investigate pollution, monitor water quality, support restoration projects, and respond when our waters are threatened.

This boat will be more than transportation—it will be a working vessel for the Bay. It will allow us to conduct water quality monitoring, track harmful algal blooms, identify and investigate pollution sources, monitor oyster restoration sites, and respond quickly when problems are reported. Most importantly, it will put our Waterkeeper where he is needed most: on the water, protecting the waters we all love.
