The devastating wildfires in Southern California have left thousands of residents struggling to come to grips with heartbreaking losses. Right now, hundreds of American Red Cross workers are on the ground supporting communities with food, shelter, recovery planning and financial assistance, ensuring survivors don’t have to face this heartbreak alone. Along with attending to tangible needs, the American Red Cross is providing mental health support and caring shoulders to lean on.

Authors for LA was created to help. Organized by Daniel Palmer and Jeff Ayers, we have partnered with the American Red Cross (American Red Cross) and the fundraising platform Givebutter to raise much-needed funds for immediate relief and support for those who have suffered the most.

Please join in sharing the auction with as many book lovers as possible. We have generous donations from beloved authors such as John Grisham, David Baldacci, Lisa Gardner, Tess Gerritsen, Joseph Finder, and many others.

Please tune in on Wednesday, January 22, when we will be hosting a live event featuring some of these authors, as well as SA Cosby, Sara Paretsky, Alafair Burke, Charlaine Harris, Brad Meltzer and more, for an evening of book talks that we hope will raise awareness as well as funds for this important relief effort.

The need is plentiful and imperative. The recovery effort for many will go on for years, and the threat isn't over. Thousands of people are still under mandatory evacuation orders and the threat isn’t over as dangerous fire weather conditions continue.

Anyone who has been affected by the fires is welcome to stop by a shelter to get information, a hot meal, charge their phone and access other essential support. If you or a loved one needs help, emergency shelters are open and locations can be found on redcross.org, the free Red Cross Emergency app or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767).
