Break The Silence was born from a powerful need to uplift voices that too often go unheard. Founded by survivors, advocates, mental health champions, and individuals passionate about recovery, our organization began as a grassroots effort to provide hope, healing, and connection to those affected by suicide, mental health challenges, substance use and recovery, and emotional isolation.

In the early days, our team saw how many individuals in our community were silently battling feelings of despair, rejection, loneliness, mental health struggles, and the challenges that can come with addiction and recovery. We realized that what people needed most was a safe place to be seen, heard, supported, and accepted without judgment. What started as a small support circle quickly grew into a movement. Today, Break The Silence is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Fort Morgan, Colorado, dedicated to suicide prevention, mental health awareness, recovery support, and creating inclusive spaces for healing and connection.

Through education, community events, peer-led groups, recovery-focused support, and collaborations with other nonprofit organizations and community partners, we are working to break the stigma surrounding mental health, suicide, addiction, and recovery while building a stronger and more compassionate community. We host empowering festivals, vital trainings and meetings, educational workshops, resource fairs, mental health and recovery support groups, and youth-led initiatives that remind people they are never alone—and that their story matters. We believe recovery and healing can look different for everyone, and every person deserves compassion, dignity, connection, and access to support.

Everything Break The Silence provides is available to the community at no cost, helping ensure that financial barriers never prevent someone from finding support, connection, resources, or hope.
