In 2006, REACH Shirati began as the belief of one woman in her home community. Christine Chacha, REACH Shirati’s founder, wanted to serve Nyamagonogo, a small village in the Shirati region where she grew up, and make a difference in the everyday lives of her neighbors. “Kidogo kidogo”, she’d often say– little by little, translated from Swahili to English.

It has now been 20 years since she and her home community began the process of building Tina’s Pre and Primary School. Little by little, the impact of REACH Shirati has grown far beyond our month-to-month, hand-to-mouth model. In 2026, REACH Shirati has impacted thousands of Tanzanians' lives through education, employment, and health and wellness programs. Since 2006 we've contributed to:

Over 60 stable jobs created
350 students completing our Gender Respect program
500 primary school graduates
Over 50,000 meals served to hospital patients
