As we approach the graduation of our 100th class, we invite Farnsworth families, friends, and our community to celebrate with us. A century is a milestone many institutions never reach, and we think that’s something worth commemorating.

Around 1925, a new school was being constructed near the Foster/Central/Milwaukee Avenues intersection in Jefferson Park in Chicago. In the spring of 1926, James B. Farnsworth Elementary graduated its first class under the guidance of Principal Flora C. Dunning. 100 years after its dedication, Farnsworth Elementary is thriving as an incredibly diverse public neighborhood school that hosts nearly 500 students from Pre-k to 8th grade. Over 20 languages are spoken by our students, and Farnsworth hosts multiple cluster programs for students with special needs. We are truly a hidden gem of the northwest side. Farnsworth offers a safe and nurturing environment and is committed to providing an inclusive education with rigorous, differentiated instruction designed to engage all learners.
