Miriam’s Promise was established in 1985 and became an independent not-for-profit adoption agency in 2003. Over the most recent years our organization has grown to provide supportive services for families of all types, providing services to children, option- based women services, and families guiding and supporting them in their needs.

Miriam’s Promise has expanded to providing multiple programs to support the communities we serve, in trauma informed foster and adoption counselling services, education programs (learn more here), and advocacy in and with the communities we serve.

Miriam's Promise prides itself on the support of the child and family in an ever-growing community with multi-dimensional needs. From the very beginning, the pregnancy, parenting, and adoption agency was inspired by the biblical story of Miriam, the sister of Moses. The mother made a loving choice. The adoptive parent took him in. And the sister helped bridge the gap.

Today, Miriam’s Promise serves as that bridge. Originally intended to be a small satellite office of Holston United Methodist Home for Children of Greeneville, Tenn., we’ve grown to offer a great variety of services for children and families alike.

Celebrate the Promise is our largest fundraiser of the year and supports our organization and the children and families we serve. On Friday April 11th, 2025 we will host our event and would like to invite your support.
