Kara Davis' Story

This year I am a serving as YWA's LENS Mentorship Program Chair, so I have gotten to work closely with the 2024 Del Valle scholarship recipients. From this role, I can personally attest to how impactful these scholarships are for these women, and how deserving they are of our support!

I am a firm believer in the power of Education and its ability to break barriers; however, the costs associated with higher education is getting overwhelmingly high, which is even more daunting for first-generation college students. I am proud to support the YWA Future Women Leaders Fund to help make education more accessible for these students, and to empower the next generation of leaders!

YWA is auctioning off an official Austin FC jersey signed by the entire team, with 100% of the proceeds supporting our First-Gen College Scholarship Program with Austin-area Del Valle HS. This scholarship helps young women in Austin become the first in their families to attend college; breaking barriers and building brighter futures together.

YWA is supporting Del Valle HS as part of its commitment to empowering first-generation college-bound students in Austin. Del Valle HS serves a diverse student population, with many students coming from historically underserved communities. By focusing on these students, YWA is helping to break down financial and systemic barriers to higher education, ensuring that young women have access to the resources, mentorship, and scholarships they need to succeed in college and beyond.
