We're turning 12, and we want to celebrate with you.

In 2015, Baltimore Youth Arts started in one classroom inside the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center. Eleven years later, more than 2,700 young people ages 14 to 25 have made art with us, and more than 270 have been paid as Apprentices at the BYA Community Studio in Station North.

That's thousands of prints pulled, murals painted, designs launched, and first paychecks earned. It's young people finding out what they're good at, and then showing the rest of us.

None of it happened without you. To every donor, volunteer, teaching artist, family member, partner, Apprentice and alum: thank you for being part of these 11 years.

Now we're getting ready for year 12. We're as excited about this work as the day we started. We want more young people in the studio, more Apprentices earning wages for their art, and more of their work out in the city.

Here's how you can be part of it. An anonymous donor is matching every dollar up to $15,000 through December 31. Your $50 becomes $100 for Apprentice wages, materials, and the staff who mentor them.

Then come celebrate in person. Join us December 3, 5 to 8 p.m., at the BYA Community Studio (20 W. North Ave.) for our 12th anniversary party and art auction, with work from 12 Baltimore artists.

Here's to 11 years, and to everything still ahead.
