Children in high-conflict families communicate constantly through anxiety, behavior, and their body. Their nervous systems register what they cannot name and, over time, they adapt—hypervigilance, emotional constriction, and performing calm to keep themselves safe.

Compliance is not regulation.

At EPKC, we offer steadiness. We show up, week after week, until a child begins to believe at a nervous-system level that we offer a safe place. A child's nervous system cannot move faster than safety allows, and what looks like restraint is often the most protective intervention available.

Since 2019, we have served over 300 children and families each year through counseling, co-parenting support, therapeutic interventions, parent aide programming, and court-related assessments. Many of our clients are referred to us by attorneys, guardian ad litems, and judges who trust us with their hardest cases.

Our 2026 fundraising goal is $150,000, where every dollar goes toward keeping our work alive for every child who has run out of doors to knock on. Join us Friday, October 9, 2026 at the Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City to help us raise their voice.
