The Friends of Abilities First's Silver Strands Celebration honors citizens who have made a positive impact in our community for people with developmental disabilities. The 2025 Silver Strands Celebration honors Aileen Dressler in recognition of her passion for inclusion of people with developmental disabilities.

Aileen Dressler is a dedicated advocate for inclusive and affordable housing, blending her expertise as an architect with her lived experience as a mother to a child with disabilities. She understands firsthand the challenges families face in finding safe, accessible housing, fueling her commitment to ensuring that housing is not just a necessity but a foundation for dignity, independence, and opportunity.

Friends of Abilities First is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) that assists with the needs and expenses of people with developmental disabilities in Greene County, Missouri supported by Abilities First. Friends of Abilities First also provides opportunities for inclusion where people live, learn, work, and play. Contributions to Friends of Abilities First help:

People to live independently in their own home.

Promote employment opportunities.

Access emergency funding.

Obtain personal items.

Provide scholarships for Art Academy students.

More importantly, Friends of Abilities First helps people achieve their dreams of a good life!
