Wrongful conviction doesn't end at exoneration. The Innocence Center's For the Innocent Gala — May 16, 2026 — exists to change that. Gather alongside exonerated individuals, their families, and advocates who share a common belief: that justice must be fought for, and freedom must be protected.

The evening features hearing inspiring stories from freed individuals, fine dining and drinks, and meaningful opportunities to support the ongoing work of exonerating the wrongfully convicted, reforming the criminal legal system, and empowering survivors as they reclaim their lives. Every ticket and sponsorship directly fuels that mission.

Location: Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, University of San Diego, 5555 Marian Way, Main Floor, San Diego, CA 92110

Parking: Enter the University of San Diego from the Marian Way entrance, (West entrance). Pass the guard gate and continue up the hill. Before the roundabout, park in the the Kroc garage G1 on the right and take the elevator to the main floor.

About The Innocence Center

The Innocence Center launched in 2023. The Board and Staff have decades of innocence work under their belt, all having worked at the California Innocence Project as a staff or faculty member. Collectively, the group has freed more than 40 people who have served 600+ years in prison for crimes they did not commit. The team has been responsible for getting a dozen laws changed to prevent future injustices and make it easier to free the innocent. The Innocence Center is a member of the Innocence Network.
