This October, as Knoxville settles into cooler nights and the city begins to glow with autumn color, ReLAUNCH will transform The Standard into something extraordinary — a place where creativity, community, and purpose come together under one spirited theme: Galaween.

Galaween is more than a celebration; it’s a night built around the real stories of the people ReLAUNCH serves. Most of our neighbors experiencing homelessness aren’t past their crisis — they’re living in the middle of it. Every day, we meet people who are trying to stay safe, stay connected, and stay hopeful while navigating the uncertainty of life without stable housing. Their stories are still unfolding, shaped by long nights, hard choices, and the constant pressure of simply trying to get through the day.

Galaween exists to steady that moment.

The support raised through this event fuels the essentials that make progress possible — the first steps that help someone stabilize long enough to imagine a different future. A place to rest. A place to take a shower. A place to get help securing IDs, transportation, or food. A place where someone will sit with them, listen to them, and help them take the next step toward housing and employment.

One woman told us,
“I came into the warming center sometimes badly beaten, and you never turned me away or judged me for my situation. For once in my life I felt human. Like I wasn't alone. What you did for me changed something in me that I can't explain.”

Today, she’s living with her daughter and granddaughter. She’s sober. She’s interviewing for jobs. And she told us,
“I'm not the same person who was under the bridge. I'm stronger than ever.”
She dreams of coming back one day — not for help, but to help someone else who’s where she once was.

This is what stability makes possible. Not overnight transformation, but the quiet, powerful shift that happens when someone finally has a safe place to land and the support to take their next step.

And that’s what Galaween fuels.

On October 22, guests will gather for costume contests, a silent auction, dinner, and an open bar — but beneath the fun, Galaween is a commitment to the essential, life‑changing work ReLAUNCH does every day. It’s an investment in safety, dignity, and the future our neighbors have been fighting to reach.
