A little about our evening host...

Deborah Dixon spent more than forty years at Cincinnati’s WKRC-TV where she was a crime reporter. She was born in Alaska, where her father was stationed as a Strategic Air Command pilot in the United States Air Force.

After earning a bachelor degree at Berea Ohio’s Baldwin Wallace college, she moved to Cincinnati. There, she had the good fortune to work with news anchor and managing editor, Nick Clooney. Nick taught his news team that every person has a story. You just have to listen carefully to tell their story accurately and with empathy.

At WKRC, she tracked down one serial killer while he was mowing his lawn. She connected with another serial killer who was on death row. He confessed to her that another man had been wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for two murders that he had committed. Through her efforts, the wrongfully convicted man was freed from prison.

One of her proudest accomplishments is convincing the Cincinnati Police Chief – and WKRC – to begin a Crimestoppers Program. At the time, only one other city had Crimestoppers.

Because of the empathy that Nick Clooney taught his reporters, mothers of murder victims continue to stay in touch with Deborah. Some from crimes of decades ago. She still meets with them. She was the person who listened to them on the worst days of their lives. She is the one who told their stories.

Deborah and her husband, a retired Cincinnati Police Lieutenant, have two adult children and four grandchildren. They met while Deborah was covering a homicide – not the most romantic beginning. They’ve been married for 44 years.
