For more than a year, Jeanette lived with constant back pain, trusting answers would eventually come. Like so many of us, she kept pushing forward—working, caring for her family, and staying strong—until doctors ordered deeper testing. An MRI, ultrasound, and X-rays revealed devastating news: a tumor on her pancreas along with spots on her liver.

Jeanette is receiving care at MD Anderson in The Woodlands, where a treatment plan was set. Just as she prepared to begin chemotherapy, she suffered a stroke and was hospitalized at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. This required blood thinners, caused extreme loss of energy and appetite, and postponed chemotherapy for 4 more weeks. The road ahead is uncertain and exhausting—but she is not giving up.

Jeanette works for Texas Dept of Criminal Justice at The Gist Unit, is a proud Port Neches resident, a loving wife to Alfred Watts, and the heart of her family. She is mother to two sons and grandmother to six grandchildren who adore her. She has spent her life showing up for others. Now, she needs us to show up for her.
