Marilyn’s life has been shaped by resilience, faith, and an unshakable love for her family. The middle child of seven—six sisters and one brother—she learned early how to be strong, compassionate, and selfless. Born and raised in Groves, Texas, Marilyn built a life centered on family. She is the proud mother of three children, a grandmother to five, and a loving “bonus grandma” to three more who see her as their own.

Her journey has not been easy. In 2010, Marilyn survived a horrific accident when she was run over by a truck, suffering all 12 ribs cracked and spending three weeks in the ICU. Life later took her to Arkansas during family challenges, where she leaned on her oldest sister and found strength to keep going. In 2018, Marilyn faced breast cancer and underwent a left mastectomy. Two years later, she battled skin cancer. After five years cancer-free, devastating news arrived again in April 2025: a diagnosis of small cell lung cancer.

Through every trial, Marilyn has placed her faith in God, believing her life rests in His hands. Her strength is inspiring—but strength doesn’t pay medical bills or stretch groceries. Marilyn lives on a fixed Social Security income of just $750 a month. Her family is helping however they can, but the financial strain is overwhelming.
