Maripol, Shepard Fairey, Gary Baseman, Aaron Rose, Merrick Morton, Ramona Rosales and Piper Ferguson are among the celebrated artists and photographers contributing to the “The Art Auction” presented by Subrosa Unlimited, with LA-centric fine art and photography benefitting three nonprofits impacted by the recent fires.

Co-curated by culture writers Rose Apodaca and Gawain Semlear, the showcase is part of the all-ages fire-relief fundraiser “I HEART LA,” presented by “Miss Rita’s Lucha VaVoom,” taking place at downtown Los Angeles' historic The Belasco, Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

“The Art Auction” will offer fine art and photography inspired by Los Angeles. The artwork delves into the more alternative pockets of the city, highlighting its unique and oftentimes absurd beauty. With works by Sanchez/Zalba, Josef Jasso, Sequoia Emmanuelle, Monica Orozco, Tyler Curtis and Steve Olson, the auction ties together varied subcultures and stratums of thought reflecting LA’s unconventional history.

Nonprofits benefiting from "The Art Auction":

+ Hope & Grief: a fund set up by volunteer artists/art professionals to directly assist the 400+ artists and art professionals who lost or suffered significant damage to their homes, studios and work.

+ Best Friends Animal Society: LA Chapter, an animal rescue bringing emergency assistance to animals impacted by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

+ The ARC Fighter-Fighter Fund: LA-based nonprofit providing the 1,000+ incarcerated firefighters on the frontline—who are being paid $5.80 to $10.24 per day for a 24-hour shift—with food, essentials and scholarships.
