The Runway

The fashion show will debut One Thread Collective’s newest collection of handwoven mochilas, designed by Indigenous Wayuu women at the Yala'yalaa School for Women's Empowerment. Each design reflects life, landscapes, and ancestral culture in remote Wayuu communities in La Guajira, Colombia.

Crafted from recycled cotton yarn, each bag represents a meaningful step toward sustainability and a return to natural fibers, made possible through One Thread Collective’s ongoing collaboration with the artisans.

The runway will feature Santa Barbara women leaders, change makers, artists, philanthropists, and activists— local role models walking in solidarity with Wayuu women and shining a light on the issues and causes they champion.

One Thread Collective is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit reimagining fashion as a force for justice.

We partner with Indigenous Wayuu women of Colombia—renowned for their vibrant crochet artistry—to create meaningful economic opportunities, preserve cultural traditions, and advance education and community-led solutions in some of the most remote communities in Colombia.

Through fair-trade employment, education, microloans, and community projects, One Thread Collective works alongside Wayuu women to build a future in which their artistry is valued, their voices are heard, and their communities can thrive.
