The Purple Rose Initiative began with cystic fibrosis — but quickly revealed something much bigger.

Like many families navigating a complex medical diagnosis, we found ourselves immersed in a world of genetics, chronic illness, long-term treatment, advocacy, and unanswered questions. As individuals with cystic fibrosis are now living longer than ever before, new conversations are emerging around how genetic conditions can impact multiple systems in the body over time — from respiratory and digestive health to inflammation, endocrine function, sinus disease, joint complications, and overall quality of life.

What started as a deeply personal journey became a broader realization:

Research, education, and innovation surrounding one condition often create ripple effects far beyond a single diagnosis.

The Purple Rose Initiative was founded to help bridge those conversations.

Rooted in the cystic fibrosis community and inspired by the resilience of individuals and families living with chronic and genetic conditions, PRI exists to advance education, advocacy, and collaborative research support that encourages greater understanding across medical disciplines and communities.

We believe that when researchers, clinicians, advocates, educators, and families begin connecting ideas across conditions, meaningful breakthroughs become possible.

Through strategic fundraising, educational initiatives, community engagement, and partnerships with established medical and research organizations, PRI seeks to support innovation, increase awareness, and help shape a future where advancements in care reach further across generations and conditions.
