LIBERTY GALA

250 Years of American Music

Building Futures Through Music

For more than six decades, the South Florida Youth Symphony has opened the doors of music to young people throughout our community, regardless of their families’ ability to pay.

Behind every young musician who walks into an SFYS rehearsal is a story.

Some arrive holding their first violin. Others dream of performing a concerto, becoming a music teacher, attending college, or someday playing on the world’s great stages. Many come from families for whom the cost of private lessons, tuition, an instrument, supplies, transportation, and performance opportunities would otherwise put serious musical study beyond their reach.

SFYS believes talent should never be limited by financial circumstances.

That is why the LIBERTY GALA: 250 Years of American Music is more than a celebration. It is an investment in the future of our young people.

Funds raised through the Liberty Gala help SFYS provide tuition assistance and scholarships, instruments, and supplies, professional instruction, rehearsals, educational programs, and extraordinary performance opportunities for young musicians throughout South Florida.

Since 1964, SFYS has used music to teach much more than notes on a page. Our students learn discipline, perseverance, teamwork, responsibility, confidence, and leadership. They learn to listen to one another, work toward a common goal, and discover what they can accomplish when someone believes in their potential.

Our musicians have carried the name of South Florida from their own neighborhoods to Carnegie Hall and international stages, earning recognition and creating memories that can change the direction of a young life. Yet some of the most important moments happen quietly every Sunday when a beginner produces a beautiful sound for the first time, when a struggling student discovers confidence, or when a family realizes their child has found a place where they belong.

As America celebrates 250 years, the Liberty Gala celebrates the freedom to dream, the opportunity to learn, and the power of music to bring people together.

Your generosity makes that opportunity possible.

When you purchase a Gala ticket, become a sponsor, bid on an auction item, make a donation, or underwrite a student’s participation, you are doing far more than supporting a concert.

You are placing an instrument in a young person’s hands.
You are putting a teacher beside them.
You are giving them a stage on which to succeed.
You are helping build their future.

Join the South Florida Youth Symphony in ensuring that the next generation has the opportunity to Play. Learn. Perform. Dream.

Help Us Keep the Music Playing for Every Child Who Wants the Opportunity to Be Heard.
