Join us at Unbridled Sanctuary for a joyful Sunday brunch celebrating the many equines born in March—and the promise of new life this spring.

Each year we gather in the name of SHAMROCKS to honor the horses, donkeys, and mules who now live safely at the Sanctuary. This year, 22 members of the Herd celebrate March Birthdays, including our beloved Thoroughbred mare Posey, who turns 25 years young on St. Patrick’s Day.

And this year’s gathering may include one more Birthday!

Our precious Standardbred mare Joyfull is expecting a foal any day now, so Shamrocks at the Sanctuary will also serve as Joyfull’s official Foal Shower.

Inspired by Celtic traditions of gratitude, renewal, and community, we will gather among the horses to celebrate the Sanctuary Herd and the lives that continue here.

📖 An Invitation from Posey

My name is Posey. My registered name is Possession, but here at the Sanctuary everyone simply calls me Posey.

You might know me. I’m usually popping my head out from the corner stall where I can keep an eye on everything happening in the main aisleway—well, at least Section Two. My stall is right next to Touching My Toes, and she celebrates her Birthday in March too.

But the reason I’m hosting this gathering is because I was born on St. Patrick’s Day.

And this year—oh my goodness—I will be twenty-five years old. A full quarter of a century.

I’ve always had a bit of a special relationship with Shamrocks. Though between us… I’ve always thought of them as clover!

Still, Shamrocks have long symbolized renewal, good luck, and the return of spring.

And I don’t know about you, but I am more than ready for spring.
It has been a long winter this year.

Here at the Sanctuary, March is the month with the most birthdays of the whole year. Many of my friends—from Toes beside me to young Gracie who was born just across the aisle two years ago, to sassy Speedy, and her gal pal Libby, and a whole bunch more, all celebrate their Birthdays right here this month - together.

Unbridled rescued me just before I was led into the auction ring—just before I would have been lost forever. So really, every day, I celebrate my life. But that day, that was the day my life began again.

And that is exactly what Shamrocks at the Sanctuary celebrates. New beginnings.

Oh—and one more little (actually really big!) thing.

I’ve been keeping an eye on Joyfull.

Every day I watch her walking down the aisle after she comes in from the arena, and I can see that tiny baby kicking inside her belly.

If you ask me, that little bundle of joy will likely join us sometime this month.

Which means we may be adding one more birthday to our March celebration.
