Honoring Preservation Hall & Ben Jaffe

This year’s Elizebeth T. Werlein Award will be presented to Preservation Hall and Ben Jaffe in recognition of their thoughtful stewardship of one of the French Quarter’s most iconic historic properties. For 65 years, Preservation Hall has carefully maintained the architectural character and integrity of its historic structure while ensuring it remains an active and meaningful place within the Vieux Carré. Their recent expansion reflects a deep respect for the historic fabric of the district and a commitment to preserving the authenticity that defines the French Quarter.

Patron Celebration

Sponsors will be invited to attend a special Patron Celebration from 6-7pm, featuring an intimate concert performance by the Preservation Hall Band and Ben Jaffe, and an award presentation in their honor—offering a memorable musical experience in one of the French Quarter’s most storied settings.

Why Your Support Matters

Historic preservation is never guaranteed. The Vieux Carré Commission Foundation supports the mission of the Vieux Carré Commission by funding preservation initiatives, educational programs, and community engagement efforts. Private support protects what public funding cannot fully sustain.

Authenticity and stewardship remain our guiding principles, reminding us that we must leave this remarkable place as authentic as we found it. Your support directly affirms a shared commitment to preserving the Vieux Carré—New Orleans’ historic heart, the economic engine of our beloved city and state, and the cultural foundation of our diverse architecture, population, and traditions. Protecting the French Quarter benefits the whole of New Orleans and Louisiana.
