Drea Herrera's Story

As a Queer Arab Latine New Yorker, I am deeply concerned about the future of crucial arts advocacy programs right here in the city.

We must show up in support of smaller non-profits in the arts, like Theatre of the Oppressed NYC (TONYC), who are doing vital work in our local communities. They play an essential role in the fight against oppression.

TONYC is a non-profit organization that partners with New York City communities facing systemic oppression. TONYC uses the Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) methodology to create original performances based on lived experiences, inspiring audiences towards transformative social action. For the past 12 years, TONYC has been a hub for artists, activists, and individuals seeking to enact change in their communities. TONYC provides training to individuals, cultural organizations, and support services.

Now, TONYC needs your help. Funding from people like YOU keeps TONYC's programming with partners, including the Ali Forney Center,  Housing Works, Fortune Society, and Neighbors in Action running strong.

Please consider donating to this amazing organization that I care deeply about. With your contribution, we will prioritize the voices and creativity of those most affected by systemic oppression.

This is my first fundraiser, and I aim to raise an ambitious $5,000. Any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated.
