We aim to end the abandonment of our animal friends by providing a refuge for those waiting for homes and empowering humans to be good homes for them.

For the first few years (8/31/2021-2024) we are up and running, we will function much like other animal rescues in which we will rely on foster homes to care for the dogs and cats we take in.

We also plan to pilot some programs that would connect current or potential pet owners with the resources they need to be responsible and successful pet owners. Resources such as transportation to the vet, low cost vet care, pet food, flea/tick/parasite medications, behavior training and pet friendly housing links would go a long way to help people keep their pets! We would also like to work with programs (such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts) or do some classroom projects to help children learn how to care for pets.

The objective of these educational aspects would be to end animal abandonment due to economic hardship or misunderstandings about animal behaviors. Less animals abandoned in our communities will improve the health of our neighborhoods. When stray animals (like cats) are left to fend for themselves, they not only live tough, hard lives, they can become a nuisance to some residents who see them as “pests” that rip into their garbage, defecate in their gardens and urinate on their porches. They also become a burden of care for others who want to help these abandoned pets but are stretched thin financially and create more stress for them as they struggle to afford to feed and get vet care for often sick or breeding animals that show up at their doors. Animal abandonment is a crime that hurts everyone in our community and it needs to stop. We aim to help put a stop to some of the major reasons animals are abandoned by directly targeting them at their core through education and easier access to resources to help.

Our organization will need to spend at least the first couple years getting established and raising the revenue needed to put into a property for our sanctuary. Once the sanctuary is in place, we will be able to house dogs and cats in a safe and healing environment to be while they wait to get adopted. We will run our educational programs from our sanctuary, setting up visits into schools and other places in our communities regularly to make sure the educational programs have a far reach.

We hope to become a place that inspires kindness and creates new opportunities for employment as well. We aim to be a sanctuary for animals and people in this uncertain and often unkind world.
