Our hair holds stories. Our stories hold history. Our history deserves to be preserved.

Black hair has always been more than an expression of beauty. It is a language, a form of resistance, a symbol of identity, and a living archive of the people, places, and experiences that shape us.

Within every braid, coil, curl, and strand lives a story. Stories of ancestry, creativity, resilience, transformation, and becoming. Stories passed down through generations, carried through traditions, and reimagined through artistry.

HAIRCHIVE: An Offering is an immersive art exhibition exploring people, culture, memory, and moments in Blackness through the lens of Black hair.

Presented by Nu Growth Preservation, the exhibition brings together hair sculpture, photography, film, and multidisciplinary artistic expression to explore Black hair as both an artistic medium and a cultural record.

Through this work, we invite audiences to experience hair beyond its physical form—to consider what it holds, what it communicates, and what it preserves.

Why We're Creating HAIRCHIVE

HAIRCHIVE began with a shared vision between Nu Growth Preservation's founders, Brittany Everfield and AnaStasia Ebel: to create space for Black stories to be seen, celebrated, and preserved through art.

For us, this work is deeply personal. It is an extension of our lived experiences, our creative practices, and our belief in the power of cultural storytelling.

We are taking a chance on ourselves, our artistry, and a vision that we believe deserves to exist in the world.

We recognize that too often, Black creative expression is celebrated without being adequately documented, preserved, or supported. Through Hairchive, we hope to contribute to changing that narrative.

We want artists to have opportunities to share their work, communities to recognize themselves in the stories being told, and future generations to inherit a richer record of our cultural contributions.

An Offering to Our Community

On February 21, 2027, HAIRCHIVE: An Offering will make its exhibition debut at Hotel Peter & Paul in New Orleans.

This exhibition is more than a presentation of artwork. It is an offering of memory, creativity, connection, and possibility.

An invitation to reflect on where we've been, celebrate who we are, and imagine what we can become.

Through an immersive environment featuring original sculptural works, photography, film, and contributions from collaborating artists, we hope to create an experience that stays with visitors long after they leave.

Help Us Bring This Vision to Life

Producing an independent exhibition of this scale requires resources, collaboration, and community support.

Your contribution will help support:

Exhibition production: Venue, installation, lighting, equipment, and the materials needed to create an immersive experience.
Artist development and opportunities: Supporting the presentation, visibility, and professional growth of participating artists.
Creative production: The fabrication, photography, filmmaking, and documentation that bring HAIRCHIVE's stories to life.
Cultural preservation: Building an evolving archive of artistic works, stories, and creative practices.
Community engagement: Creating opportunities for audiences to connect with the work and participate in meaningful cultural experiences.

Every contribution, regardless of size, helps us move closer to realizing this vision.

Be Part of the Story

HAIRCHIVE is rooted in the belief that preservation is a collective act.

It takes artists willing to create, storytellers willing to share, and communities willing to invest in the value of their own cultural histories.

By supporting HAIRCHIVE: An Offering, you are helping us create more than an exhibition. You are contributing to a growing cultural archive and supporting a platform for Black artists, stories, and creative expression.

We invite you to be part of this offering.

To believe in the vision. To invest in the artistry. To help carry these stories forward.

Because our stories are worth telling. Our artistry is worth supporting. And our culture is worth preserving.

With gratitude,

Brittany Everfield & AnaStasia Ebel
