My name is Gift Phiri and I was born and raised in Malawi, Africa. Growing up in a small village, I as well as most had very little. Those of us from my village fortunate enough to attend school did so by walking 9 miles each way barefoot. Meals were not garneted and many of us went hungry often. At an early age I recognized the need for change. I studied, worked hard, and got the opportunity to come to the United States. I am currently obtaining my master’s degree at Northern Arizona University. My degree is in sustainable communities and hope to one day be able to build and open a high school for the children of Malawi.
I have been privileged to have had the opportunity to come to the United States to study but that does not stop me from thinking of those in need back home who are living in extreme poverty. Education of children is being affected by lack of clean drinking water and this hunger crisis.
There are still so many people in Africa who are living in poverty. I am very grateful that Springs of Salvation has chosen to work with me to help the Malawian people. With your generous donations we can start to make an impact and really change the lives of so many. Thank you so much for your support.
