He has drawn the maps that have helped visitors navigate Bonaventure Cemetery, and Downtown Savannah. On Sunday, May 17, cartographer Michael Karpovage, founder of Karpovage Creative, Inc., will share the story of how he captures the beauty of our city in map form.

Karpovage printed his first map of the cemetery in 2016 and is now in his seventh edition. In this month’s Living History Lecture, he will share how he started, what brought this New Yorker to Georgia, how he tapped into to the tourism market in Savannah.

Aside from illustrating beautiful maps, Karpovage has also authored three books and is an actual treasure hunter, having discovered coins from Confederate treasure in 2020.

The Living History Lecture will be on Sunday, May 17, at 2 pm in the Jewish chapel inside Bonaventure Cemetery. Tickets, both in-person and livestreamed, are $10 for Bonaventure Historical Society members and $15 for non-members. As parking is limited, please plan to arrive 10 minutes early.

This venue is a historic structure with no a/c, we do our best to provide fans. Please bring something to drink and dress for the weather.
