Our Team - March Garnette
Next week, I will be joining a disaster relief team from our church, South Dayton Fellowship, headed to Coral Gables, FL, to serve families devastated by Hurricane Marcus.
This is my first disaster relief team trip with South Dayton Fellowship, and I am really excited!
The slogan of our trip is - "You are NOT alone!"
What I'll Be Doing
I am a roofer by trade, so I will be helping patch roofs, cover roofs with tarps, and help assess safety issues before teams go on roofs.
When I'm not on a roof, I will be praying with families, listening to their stories, sharing the love of Christ, and handing out basic supplies to those in need.
Where I Will Stay
I will be sleeping on a cot in the gymnasium of Grace Church of Coral Gables with 100+ other volunteers.😯 The church is providing hot showers and meals for all volunteers too.
How You Can Help
🙏 Pray – I will be in charge of our roofing team. I have never worked with volunteers before, so I don't know what to expect. Please ask God to give me patience and wisdom as I work with and train my team.
Please also pray that He gives us all wisdom in how to speak words of comfort to those we minister to.
✅ Give – South Dayton Fellowship is asking each team member to reach out to friends and neighbors to raise $495 each to cover our expenses while serving in Coral Gables. Any funds remaining after food and fuel are covered will go directly towards purchasing critical supplies for those affected by Hurricane Marcus.
By supporting individual team members like me, you are allowing South Dayton Fellowship to direct more of our congregational funds to those we are serving.
The $495 isn't a prerequisite for us going; it is just an opportunity for those who can't go to be involved in the mission, too!
