The Story We’re Carrying Forward

Local Cloth has always been more than a place.
It’s a living, breathing community—built by many hands, shaped by shared knowledge, and held together by care.

From the beginning, people have gathered here to learn, to make, to teach, and to connect. What started as a small group of fiber artists grew into something much larger: a creative home rooted in tradition, sustainability, and community resilience.

At the heart of that beginning was Judi Jetson—our “Main Mama”—and one of the founding forces who helped bring Local Cloth to life. Not alone, but as part of a collective vision that believed this kind of space matters. That it should exist. That it should last. And over the years, it has.

Through workshops and markets, through quiet moments at the loom and lively days filled with conversation, Local Cloth has become a place where people show up for each other—where skills are passed down, where creativity is nurtured, and where community is continually woven together. And then, everything changed.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene, we lost so much—our space, our equipment, our inventory. Years of accumulated tools, materials, and work were suddenly gone. It would have been easy for that to be the end of the story. But it wasn’t.

Because Local Cloth isn’t just what we had—it’s who we are.

Our community showed up. With time, with care, with resources, with belief.

And now, we are rebuilding. Not just to restore what was lost—but to ensure that Local Cloth continues into the future, stronger and more resilient than before.

Why This Fund Matters

The Judi Jetson Charitable Fund was created to carry this story forward.

Named in honor of Judi—and all she helped set in motion—this fund is about continuity. It’s about making sure that Local Cloth isn’t vulnerable to a single moment or a single loss.

It’s about sustaining our core programs:

accessible, hands-on education
support for fiber artists and local growers
community gathering and shared learning
a space where creativity and connection thrive

This fund helps ensure that Local Cloth remains a home for this work—for years, for decades, for generations.
