Sampson County Dementia Caregiver Workshop

Check in at 9AM to take advantage of all of the resources, eat breakfast, and connect with other caregivers. Wear layers as the temperature will vary throughout the day. Free parking is available.

Whether you are new to caregiving for someone with dementia or have been doing it for years, this event is for you!
We will have education sessions, resource exhibitors and time for networking with other caregivers.

9:00 Check-In and Visit Resource Exhibitors
10:00 Melanie Bunn, RN, MS, GNP, leads a discussion on the different levels of dementia and behaviors caregivers may expect. She will share helpful suggestions and tips on things like communication, redirection, and how to work through anger and resistance to care. Melanie will also help us understand what we need to do, ourselves, to avoid difficult situations our care receivers might not understand.
12:00 Lunch will be provided
12:45 Legal Aid NC shares insights and answers questions about the many legal aspects of dementia care and how to get prepared and stay prepared as dementia progresses. Wills, Powers of Attorney, Estate Planning and so much more will be discussed.
2:00 Closing, evaluations, and thank-you
3.0 Adult Care Home Level Continuing Education credits are being offered for professional caregivers.
