Help Our Girls Discover History—and What Is Possible for Their Future

Sister’s With A Dream is raising $19,800 to take 14 East Texas girls on Roots & Rise: A Black History Month Journey to Washington, D.C., in February 2027.

This four-day, three-night educational journey, supported by six volunteer chaperones, will give our girls opportunities to explore African American history, culture, museums, and national landmarks.

We want them to connect what they learn in school with the places, stories, and contributions that have shaped our nation. Through learning and meaningful conversations, we hope to deepen their understanding of courage, leadership, perseverance, and the power of using their voices.

Black history is an important part of American history. Our group includes girls of different racial backgrounds who will learn alongside one another, build understanding, and share an experience that encourages curiosity, respect, and connection.

Why Your Support Matters

An experience like this takes resources beyond our regular mentoring activities. Transportation, lodging, meals, and educational expenses create a significant cost.

Without the generosity of donors and community partners like you, we would not be able to provide this opportunity for our girls.

Your gift helps remove financial barriers so they can participate, learn, and explore. You are helping make room for a girl to ask questions in a museum, stand before a national landmark, discover a story that inspires her, and begin imagining new possibilities for herself.

What Your Gift Supports

Our $19,800 goal will help cover:
• Airfare and travel to and from the airport
• Lodging for three nights
• Ground transportation in Washington, D.C.
• Meals during the trip
• Educational materials and program expenses
• Travel expenses for the six volunteer chaperones supporting our girls

Our Hope for Every Girl

We want our girls to return to East Texas with a deeper understanding of history, stronger connections with one another, and greater confidence in their ability to learn, lead, and contribute to their communities.

Roots & Rise connects education with the work we do throughout the year: mentoring girls, building confidence, developing leadership, and encouraging them to pursue their goals.

You Can Help Open the Door

Please give what you can and share this campaign with your friends, family, church, or workplace. Businesses and community groups can also contribute toward making this journey possible.

Every gift brings us closer to sending 14 girls on an experience they can carry with them long after they return home.

Help our girls discover their roots, broaden their understanding, and rise toward their dreams.

Every Girl Matters. Every Dream Has Purpose. Every Life Can Leave a Legacy.
