My Journey with Joy Ride: Honoring a Loved One, Fighting for a Cause
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As I lace up my shoes and prepare to embark on the Joy Ride this year, I'm filled with a myriad of emotions. It's not just another fundraising event for me; it's a deeply personal journey that I feel compelled to share with you all.
My family faced a devastating loss when we said goodbye to a beloved member who lost their battle with AIDS. His absence left a void in our lives, a void that can never truly be filled. But amidst the grief and heartache, there emerged a resolve—a resolve to honor their memory and to contribute in any way possible to the ongoing fight against HIV/AIDS.
While I may have only lost someone personally, my community lost most of a generation. That's why I'm participating in the Joy Ride this year. It's more than just a bike ride; it's a symbol of solidarity, a beacon of hope, and a reminder of the importance of continuing the fight for the LGBTQ+ community. With every pedal, I'll be channeling the spirit of my loved one, carrying their memory forward as I join hands with fellow riders in raising funds and awareness for this vital cause.
The Joy Ride isn't just about the miles we cover or the funds we raise; it's about the lives we touch and the impact we make. It's about standing up against stigma, discrimination, and injustice. It's about ensuring that no family has to endure the pain of losing a loved one to HIV/AIDS.
So, as I embark on this journey, I carry with me the memories of my dear family member, and I carry with me the hopes and dreams of a future where HIV/AIDS is no longer a threat. I invite you to join me in this mission, to support me in any way you can, and together, let's continue fighting the good fight.
With gratitude and determination,
Bo Danos
