Steve Alper passed away on October 21st, 2025. To some, that statement would be the headline of an obituary they would glance at and move along with their day. To anyone associated with Golden Slipper Camp, that statement was the meteor that left a crater sized hole in our hearts.

For hundreds/thousands of children (now adults), Uncle Steve was our summertime grandfather or our first boss. He taught us how to work hard, care harder and lead by example. A funeral is designed to bring together those who are grieving and pay tribute to the person we lost. At Slipper, there are always tears when something ends. Because the thing that ended was great. Uncle Steve was great.

Celebration/Cheering is the other thing we do at Slipper when something is great. So lets get together and Celebrate Uncle Steve's life. I'm sure there will be tears, maybe some cheers, but when we all come together something great happens. So wear something gold or blue, and lets reconnect, share stories, and remember the incredible lasting effect that Uncle Steve made on our hearts.
