The Waldo Duck Derby is more than a fun afternoon of cheering on rubber ducks — it’s a celebration of community, connection, and opportunity. Hosted at Rainbow School, a beloved Waldo institution for over 40 years, the Duck Derby brings neighbors, families, and local partners together for a joyful event with a powerful purpose.

Every summer, Over the Rainbow, our 10-week summer camp, creates a safe, enriching place for children to learn, play, and build lifelong friendships. But for many families, the cost of summer camp is simply out of reach. Through our long-standing partnership with the Academy for Integrated Arts (AFIA), we work to remove that barrier by providing full scholarships to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to a high-quality summer program. These scholarships don’t just fill summer days — they support social-emotional growth, academic confidence, and a sense of belonging that carries into the school year and beyond.

Funds raised through the Waldo Duck Derby will send 15 AFIA students to camp on full scholarship, continuing a partnership that has positively impacted families for years. When you adopt a duck, sponsor the derby, or donate, you’re not just backing a race — you’re investing in children, families, and the strength of our Waldo community. Together, we’re proving that when a community shows up, every child gets the chance to thrive.
