Food Access means the world to me. This project is important to me because people who do not have enough to eat are not able to function to their full potential. Food insecurity is growing in the US and impacts the health and well-being of millions of individuals.
The Food Access program provides Food to families through Mobile Market. We currently serve over 100 families in the La Crosse and surrounding areas and are growing rapidly. The boxes we assemble include mental health tips and recipes for the current food box and are delivered to the families once every four weeks.
The Food Access program also supports food for the YMCA after school care, which is packed and delivered every weekday that school is in session. Another program through Food Access is Y on the Fly, which provides food, games, mobile internet, etc. for the community.
