My mom, Nancy Whitehead, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's seven years ago. She approached the diagnosis with the same grace and positive attitude that she did with everything in her life. As she battled the disease she progressed from minor confusion to the loss of a lifetime of memories. She was often discouraged and afraid but she never voiced those fears or asked "why me". She was sustained through the struggle by her faith in God, the love of her family, the support of friends, and wonderful caregivers.
Nancy passed away very peacefully in April. She was blessed to leave the very dark tunnel of a horrible disease and enter the glorious bright light of heaven. She is terribly missed by her family but we are so thankful that she no longer suffers from the ravages of Alzheimer's. Her Christ -filled love of life and servant's attitude always shined through her beautiful smile.
Our team, Nancy's Alzstars, will do all we can to raise funds to help researchers find a cure. Last year our family gathered to walk in honor of Nancy and we will celebrate her life when we walk in her memory of her in October. Please help us by donating today and join us in our efforts.
