The Talmud teaches us (Avot 5:21) that 30 is the age when we reach the prime of our energy. Though I am well past that "prime" age, I am honored to bring the little energy I have left to Tour de Court, the annual charity basketball fundraiser in Baltimore, which IS turning 30 this year!
Despite constant calls (mostly from my own brain) to retire each year, I can't miss the 30th celebration of such an important event. Since inception, Tour de Court Inc. has raised over $400,000 for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS). We now sponsor the LLS Scholarship for Blood Cancer Survivors program that provides up to $7,500 per year to support tuition expenses to students attending vocational, two-year or four-year programs who are blood cancer survivors who were diagnosed up to and including 25 years of age.
I, again, humbly come to you asking for your support of my team (teammates to be determined through the draft in a few weeks) as I embark on another year of competition. As I mentioned last year, our family had its own battle with cancer recently. Fortunately, Daniella has returned to full health, but we have seen, firsthand, how life altering such a diagnosis can be, and that is why I am so proud to support the amazing work this tournament does.
I thank you for your donation, and please keep my ACLs and PCLs in your prayers.
