On September 1, 2024, we will be holding our 30th annual Tour de Court. Over the past decade, TDC has morphed into a meaningful way to annually honor and celebrate the life of our sister, Rachel, who tragically died from complications of Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2012.
Since the inception of our fundraising campaign, we have raised nearly $400,000 for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS). We now sponsor the LLS Scholarship for Blood Cancer Survivors program that provides up to $7,500 per year to support tuition expenses to students attending vocational, two-year or four-year programs who are blood cancer survivors who were diagnosed up to and including 25 years of age. Awardees are competitively selected by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
While LLS remains our focal cause, in recent years, we have started to direct some portion of our fundraising to additional communal projects. We are proud to partner with the Ulman Foundation. This charity is dedicated to creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer. Located in downtown Baltimore, the Ulman House provides a unique hospitality home for young adults seeking treatment in the area. The grounds now include a “Tour de Courtyard,” which will ultimately feature a small basketball hoop for guests to escape and enjoy.
We are also continuing our support for Jewish Caring Network (JCN) — a local organization dedicated to providing support services to families facing serious illnesses. Throughout Rachel's struggles, JCN provided Rachel and our family with endless practical support and kindness. A portion of our proceeds will be earmarked for this impactful organization.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
